The National Home Builders Association (NAHB) produces in-depth economic analyses of the home building industry using both private and government data. The NAHB's economics group surveys builders, home buyers, and renters to observe the issues and trends affecting the housing industry.On February 27, 2015, Robert Denk, Assistant Vice President for Forecasting and Analysis at the National Association of Home Builders, reported the 2014 GDP growth in the fourth quarter.

• Growth in economic output had a downward annual rate of 2.2% at the end of 2014.

• The slower pace of growth reflects less inventory investment but more fixed nonresidential investment.

• 2014 GDP grew at an annual rate of 5.0% in the third quarter.

• 2014 GDP grew at an annual rate of 4.6% in the second quarter.

• GDP growth expected to accelerate in 2015 coming in above 3%, this increase in the first quarter will be the first time since the recession ended in 2009.

Sunny days are abundant in Las Vegas, I know my prediction is solid. With an average of 300 sunny days equating to 3,800 hours annually of sunshine, Southern Nevada is an ideal location to tap into solar power. The Las Vegas Sun reported on February 19, 2014 the approved construction plans proposed by the Department of Interior for a 250-megawatt solar facility located near Primm, Nevada. The facility foresees service to 80,000 homes per year. A little closer to home, drive along Valle Verde Drive and 215 Beltway and view Congregation Ner Tamid’s largest solar project for a non-profit in Henderson, NV (Las Vegas Sun’s Jackie Valley reported on November 17, 2013). The Las Vegas Valley Water District has 6 solar projects producing 3.0 megawatts. Across the valley and throughout the state of Nevada, you will see solar energy projects using photovoltaic (PV) systems to convert sunlight into an electric current using the photoelectric effect.

For me, I am not about to miss the abundance of rural landscape that surrounds the Las Vegas Valley. The Clark County Wetlands Park coins the phrase, “Nature, Close to Home.” The extensive  number of trails offers me a place to listen to the sounds of wildlife, take the dog for a walk in a new environment, teach my children about conservation of resources, and have a picnic amidst the flora and fauna of beautiful southern Nevada. I am not about to miss “Nature, Close to Home”!

What is this?

A red fruit, grows on a deciduous shrub or tree, with red jewels inside called arils? It is a pomegranate. Looking to Capture Autumn in Southern Nevada?

As a mother of two, I stay active looking for ways to capture each amazing moment. Two ways I celebrate my children's lives are to find engaging events and to record their experiences with photography. Fall Fun: Foliage Southern Nevada Neighborhoods was inspired by posts I read in one of my Facebook groups where mothers asked, "Where are the best places to take photos this fall?" Over the past few years, I have scoured websites, searched maps, and driven throughout the Las Vegas Valley seeking out locations and events. Las Vegas and its neighboring cities and towns have plenty of places to celebrate autumn.

Here eight neighborhoods in Las Vegas, Nevada to find fall foliage:

1. Canyon Gate, 89117: Rainbow Family Park at West Oakey Boulevard and Belcastro Street (one block east of South Tenaya Way).
2. Paradise, 89121: Paradise Park at East Tropicana Avenue and Harrison Drive (next to McCleod Drive).
3. Rancho Charleston, Spanish Oaks, and Scotch 80's, 89102: Bob Baskin Park at West Oakey Boulevard and South Rancho Drive (east of South Valley View Boulevard).
4. The Willows at Summerlin, 89135: Willows Park at 2775 Desert Marigold Lane (South Hualapai Way and Count Deiro Drive). Trails intertwine and connect Desert Marigold Lane to South Town Center Drive).

3. Gilcrease Orchard   at 7800 N Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV  FREE (fee for to drive vehicle to pumpkin patch or rent a wagon). The Days on Market (DOM) for single family homes in Las Vegas, NV 89131 has decreased.  The  DOM depends on the property median price. Driggs Title Inc. reported the average DOM was 98 days as of September 9, 2013. The table "Market Update: Characteristics per Quartile - 89131 Zip Code" shows a home with a median price of $525,000 has been on the market for an average 131 days, whereas a home median price of $270,000 has been on the market for an average 85 days. The real estate market continues to be "hot", meaning there is a greater demand for homes to sell with fewer homes available. With only 4148 properties listed (9/9/13), the inventory decreased this week which influenced the median list price to increase to $225,000. The market in 89131 continues to show bullish, investment prices rise faster compared to the historical average of the past few years.
